"And he gave some as apostles, others as prophets, others as evangelists,
others as pastors and teachers, to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry,
for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of faith and
knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the extent of the full stature
of Christ." Ephesians 4: 11-13
Paul's Letter to the Church at Ephesus has strong ramifications for the Church here in
Columbus, as we recognize the diversity of gifts among us, and the multiple needs of
ministry for the 21st century. For most Catholics, the parish is the primary experience
of the CHURCH. It is where we gather for worship, celebrate our joyful moments of
birth and new life, of commitment and where we mourn the loss of our loved ones.
It is here that we are called to repentance and renewal, where we celebrate God's
love and forgiveness and reconciliation. It is here that we embrace what it means
to die and rise in Jesus through our everyday life. And it is here that we are
challenged to holiness and strengthened for self-giving love and Christian service. How is the Lord speaking to your heart in terms of service the sisters and brothers, both within the parish family and beyond?
Are you ready to move from being a parishioner to becoming a joyful disciple of Christ?
As you scroll through the existing ministries and organizations of service at St. Benedict
the Moor.... find a match that fits your gifts and skill sets. Take some time for
conversation with the Lord in prayer. May the Spirit of God awaken and energize you, as we unite TOGETHER to be touched and transformed by the life-giving message
of Jesus. Our plan is to unite the call to MINISTRY with ADULT FAITH FORMATION as we grow together in the Lord. This is the Lord's work. And in the
power of the Spirit it will not fail but will bear lasting fruit for the life of the Church and for the life of the world. Amen!
"So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem where they found
gathered together the eleven and those with them....
Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way and
how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread."
Luke 24: 33-35
