The Legion of Mary is a worldwide association of Catholic women who with the blessing of the Church and under the leadership of Mary, the Mother of God, have formed into a Legion for service to the Church. The purpose of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members. This is developed by prayer and active co-operation in service to God, His Holy Mother and the Church in service and daily life members are encouraged to imitate Mary, the Mother of God.
Ordinarily, the Legion of Mary gathers every Monday at 4:00 PM to pray the Rosary and to meet and address any current needs of service within the Church.
As the Pastor of St. Benedict the Moor, I envision the Legion of Mary to be a
powerhouse of prayer and invitation to those seeking to return to the Church or
to enter into the evangelization process of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Using every medium that is available, we are compelled to tell the world about JESUS, Mary's Son, who invites us to the Catholic Church Family...his Bride.
