St. Benedict the Moor in Columbus, Georgia has had a long-standing reputation for it's Gospel Choir under the direction of Dr. Joseph Saulsbury. His years of crafting song throughout the school system and the Church continues to challenge our Choirs. Working together in Choir and in Worship ministry, our present director, Mary Beth Kozee continues to bring out the gift of our Choir as we lift up the name of Jesus...Sunday after Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Sisters and brothers, it is important to understand the direction of the Church is largely from the impetus of the Second Vatican Council that has called us to reach out to serve and renew our world, to renew our Christian life and worship, a renewal to plumb the very depths of our hearts and spirits. The Council has urged us to wed the Liturgy and our varied cultures. The Liturgy is "to make people holy, to build up the Body of Christ, and finally to give worship to God." For us, at St. Benedict the Moor, Liturgy is our time of celebration as a Church-Family, where it is time to sing a new song unto the Lord. Psalm 98:1
