"The Eucharist is a priceless treasure. By not only celebrating it, but also by praying
before it outside of Mass. We are enabled to make contact with the very wellspring of grace."
St. John Paul II
Eucharistic Adoration is the act of worshipping God as He is present in the consecrated host...in Eucharist. Jesus is before us in the bread of Eucharist-body and soul, humanity and divinity. Spending time before the Blessed Sacrament in prayer and meditation, is what it means to be adoring the God of our Creation. Just what is Eucharistic Adoration? Throughout the liturgical year, the parish of St. Benedict the Moor has opportunity for Adoration of the Lord. Each Friday, following the Noon Day Mass, we spend a half hour in Eucharistic Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. This is a time to be present with God alone and yet with one another. Whether we pray in silence with the Scriptures, the Rosary, the Liturgy of the Hours, we are claiming our need for contemplative space with the living God.
As the psalmist reminds us: "Be still and know that He is God." Psalm 46
